Medicare Program; Listening Session Regarding: Defining an Episode Logic for the Medicare Physician Resource Use Measurement Program
Tuesday, November 10, 2009
9:00 AM -
1:00 PM
(Americas) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Through Section 131(c) of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA), the Secretary is required to establish the Physician Resource Use Measurement and Reporting Program, which includes providing confidential feedback to physicians, (PVBP is section 131(d).) The Physician Resource Use Measurement and Reporting Program has been established, and research indicates refinement of the approach to episodes of care would be beneficial to the program. During the listening session, CMS staff will describe key findings on research of grouper logic used to create episodes of care for Medicare beneficiaries, and will request input on a variety of issues to improve the design of episodes of care (please refer to [Federal Register] for specific topics). The input from this session may contribute to a Request for Proposal for development of logic and software that addresses these significant design issues.
